New Tool to Protect Women from HIV and Pregnancy

Experts in the United States is currently developing a new method and tool in preventing HIV transmission . Intravaginal ring -shaped tool is not only expected to give the maximum effect in preventing the transmission of disease , but also prevent pregnancy .
The intravaginal ring function slowly dispense antiretroviral drugs and contraceptives . Therefore , this new tool has great potential to protect women from HIV , herpes , and unwanted pregnancies .

The ring is designed to remain in place for three months , issued a controlled drug dose , which has been used as contraception and prevention of HIV infection . By replacing high -dose pills should be consumed each day , the researchers hope the tool will improve adherence to medication regimens .

Intravaginal ring was developed over five years at Northwestern University biomedical engineer Patrick Kiser and colleagues . Writing in the journal PLoS ONE , Kiser said his team hopes women will use it mainly for contraceptive ring , but they also would benefit from protection against sexually transmitted infections .

This easy to use tool that is currently being produced and will soon be tested in women . (VOA)
