Baby With Pacifier & Entering Thumb Habits Impact on Speech Disorder

Habits of children who like to drink dot baby or insert your thumb into the mouth is believed the researchers can inhibit the development of speech of children. The team of researchers led by Dr. Clarita Barbosa from the University of Washington also uses linguistic tests to see if the child's speech was normal according to age or whether the ability to give sound and said they were quite slow compared to his age.

From the results of the study found, children who use a pacifier, finger or thumb sucking them for at least 3 years, 3 times more at risk of impaired speech. Being of children who drank milk (breast milk) at least until the age of 9 months, and not feeding through bottle, less risk of speech disturbance.

"The results of this study indicate that the extra time outside of sucking milk from having a damaging effect on speech development in children," said Dr.Clarita, as quoted by the Telegraph.co.uk.

Previously, dental experts have also warned that the use of a pacifier, feeding bottle or thumb sucking too long to change the shape of the teeth and makes children less likely to engage in everyday conversation.

Research conducted by a team of researchers from Rehabilitacion Club De Leones Cruz del Sur and the University of Washington Multidisciplinary International Research Training Programme has been published in the journal Pediatrics Biomedcentral.
