Danger! Pesticide Causes Parkinson's

People exposed to two specific varieties of pesticides have 2.5 times greater chance to suffer from Parkinson's disease. This is expressed by a number of United States researchers. Pesticides, paraquat and rotenone, forbidden to use at home and garden. Previous studies in animals have linked paraquat with Parkinson's disease, so its use is restricted only to certified users. Rotenone is only allowed to be used as a vicious killer fish species.

"Direct rotenone inhibits mitochondrial function, the network is responsible for producing energy in cells," says co-researcher Freya Kamel, researchers at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. "Paraquat increases the production of certain oxygen derivatives that could endanger cell structures. People who use this type of pesticide or othereffect that have a greater chance of suffering from Parkinson'sdisease ."

This study examined 110 people with Parkinson's disease and 358 people who served as a control group from the Movement of Agricultural and Evaluation (FAME). FAME is part of the agricultural health study a larger, which studied the health of some 90,000 licensed pesticide users and partner perspective mereka.Penelitian appears in the journal Environmental Health.
